War Veterans Recover at Brooke Army Medical Center

War Veterans Recover at Brooke Army Medical Center:
More than 624,000 veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan have filed disability claims (both physical and mental), the Military Times reported in January and a recent ABC news report says that according to the Department of Veterans Affairs, there are 1, 286 service members who are now amputees as a result of those two wars. The Iraq and Afghanistan wars have made the term IED (Improvised Explosive Device) a household term. IED injuries result in thousands of US military war wounded suffering from amputations, burns and functional limb loss. The vets spend months (and sometimes years) in outpatient care, many at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. The BAMC comprises the Center for the Intrepid that is home to the largest inpatient medical facility in the Department of Defense. The hospital is the DOD's only burn center and Level 1 trauma center in the US. La Tomatina 2012

La Tomatina 2012:
La Tomatina is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Bunol, located inland from the Mediterranean Sea, that brings together thousands of people for one big tomato fight – purely for fun! It is held on the last Wednesday of August, during the week of festivities of Bunol. One theory – the most popular of many theories - about the origins of the “fight” dates back to 1945, when (during a parade) young men staged a brawl in the town’s main square, the Plaza del Pueblo. There was a vegetable stand nearby, so they picked up tomatoes and used them as weapons. The police had to intervene to break up the fight and forced those responsible to pay the damages incurred. -- Paula Nelson (26 photos total)

Bunol's town hall estimated more than 40,000 people, some from as far away as Japan and Australia, took up arms with 100 tons of tomatoes in the yearly food fight known as the 'Tomatina,' now in its 64th year. Britain's Pigeon Fanciers

Britain's Pigeon Fanciers:
Pigeons were once briefly used to carry stock market price reports between Paris and Berlin in the early beginnings of the Reuters news agency. Now, with a world connected by fiber optics and satellite beams, aficionados still train, keep and race pigeons for sport. The membership of Britain's Royal Pigeon Racing Associated is declining, but tens of thousands remain. This year, the 40th annual British Homing World Show of the Year, held in Blackpool, had 2,500 pigeon entries from around the world. -- Paula Nelson ( 27 photos total)

ফটোশপ CS6 ভার্শনের ধারাবাহিক ভিডিও টিউটোরিয়াল-০৪(Zoom Tool)

ফটোশপ CS6 ভার্শনের ধারাবাহিক ভিডিও টিউটোরিয়াল-০৪(Zoom Tool):

Light Bulbs As Art: 14 Shining Examples

Light Bulbs As Art: 14 Shining Examples: [ By Marc in Art & Sculpture & Craft. ]

As environmentally friendly CFL bulbs are becoming the norm, the old fashioned light bulb that everyone in the last few generations grew up with is becoming even more appealing for reuse. There are a surprising number of ways to recycle used bulbs and creative folks continue to push the limits.

It’s quite easy to core away the end of a lightbulb and create a unique mini-vase for flowers or plants. Since the end of a light bulb is metal, there are a million different ways to anchor it in place (or hang it for a beautiful effect).

A DIY terrarium is a lot less intimidating when it’s the size of a light bulb. Add a stabilizing element to the bottom of the bulb and create half a dozen mini ecosystems to add some green without taking up much space.

Light bulbs are an ad designer’s dream. As such a huge part of our culture, they have a lot of thoughts, movements, and feelings associated with them; this makes it really easy to make a statement about the environment, power, brilliance, and reinvention with just a small amount of photoshop work.

There are a ton of ways to use a light bulb, and here are some of the more creative options. A mini greenhouse is simple enough, but how about creating two creatures that light up? A really small ship in a bottle gets a nice twist by inhabiting an incredibly small space. A mad scientist’s terrarium looks straight out of a steampunk-themed laboratory, and a modern looking throwback to old fashioned lighting gives an interesting spin on technology and aesthetics.
